Popcorn

Popcorn

Popcorn after school club for primary aged children happens weekly on a Friday afternoon during the school year at the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Church, 4.30 – 6.00pm.  A committed and enthusiastic team of volunteers run a fast-paced programme of songs, dances, games, competitions, crafts and Bible stories made relevant to our lives today.  The club is free of charge and open to children from all backgrounds, whatever their beliefs.

Saturday Church on the Street!

Church on the Street

Once a month we gather as many of the congregation as possible to get out onto the streets of Forest Hill and connect with people, chatting, offering prayer, invitations to church and a chance to talk to people about who Jesus really is. We regularly give away free tea and coffee to the passers-by, sing worship songs and offer free books and tracts explaining more about Jesus. We always have lots of fun and positive conversations.

Choc Stop

Choc Stop

Choc Stop happens every Friday afternoon outside the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Church where we set up a stall and give away free hot chocolates to the young people on their way home from school. We are a friendly face at the end of a busy week, and many youth want to stop and chat to us about God, life, the universe and everything. With so much bad press about young people in London today, it is good to provide a positive connection point for them, and show them that God believes in their potential!

Guest Services

We hold regular meetings that are particularly aimed at those visiting church for the first time or interested in finding out more about following Jesus and the Christian faith.

These include special services on Easter Sunday, a Christmas Carol Service in December and Summer family event in July, often featuring presentations from our Popcorn club children.

Our once a month all age meetings in the afternoon on the fourth Sunday (link to church life page) are also particularly accessible to seekers, newcomers and guests.

Special Events

Ichthus Forest Hill also hosts one off special events that are particularly aimed at connecting with various aspects of the local community, including Popcorn parents’ events, Christmas Hampers giveaway, Summer community BBQs, Poetry Evenings and more!
